Midlands, England ^^

4. What sign language are you studying?:
British sign language

5. How long have you been signing?:
With the stuff I've taught myself, a little over a year.

6. Do you take classes, or teach yourself?:
Up until now it's been just me and a few signing friends, but I want to take it further, so I've joined up to a local course for my Level 1 BSL. It starts in Autumn. I'm pretty nervous!

7. Do you get to use sign in day-to-day life?:
When I'm with other signing friends, a little as we like to practise, but I've not had to use it yet.

8. What do you like the most about sign language?:
It's beautiful and expressive. ^^

9. What's your favourite sign?:
I do like the BSL sign for book - I'm trying to find an online clip of it but I'm not successful yet!

10. Outside of sign language, what other hobbies do you have? Any fandoms?:
I practise Aikido, I run, I love J-fashion, and I'm at uni for illustration so I draw a lot too. I'm on Tumblr but not a very fandom-y person.

11. Are you looking for other friends on DW/someone to practise sign with?:
It'd be great to get to know folks here, if we have stuff in common I'd love to friend you here. :)

12. If so, is there anything they should know upfront?:
My profile on DW gives a pretty good primer on what to expect from me behind access lock, but I do go through phases with posting on DW. Before now I'll read my subscriber list but not update my own journal for months on end, and other times I post about three times a day. Either way I'm not usually a big commenter. That's about it, though. :)

I live on the south coast of England

4. What sign language are you studying?:

British Sign Language

5. How long have you been signing?:

Five years

6. Do you take classes, or teach yourself?:

Both. I was taught up to level two, and I keep myself up to speed with more signing.

7. Do you get to use sign in day-to-day life?:

No. I was working with a Deaf person but I lost that job.

8. What do you like the most about sign language?:

It feels a bit more intuitive than spoken language.

9. What's your favourite sign?:

I like signs that combine meanings of other signs, like one of the variants for INTERVIEW combines QUESTION and PERSON.

10. Outside of sign language, what other hobbies do you have? Any fandoms?:

Doctor Who, Terry Pratchett...

Not really, no.

Hearing. I don't really know any Deaf people.

3. Whereabouts do you live?:
I'm from Melbourne, Australia.

4. What sign language are you studying?:
Auslan - I did a very long course several years ago - these days I'm out of practice.

5. How long have you been signing?:
About 15 years, but not consistently.

6. Do you take classes, or teach yourself?:
I did take classes - but these days it's mostly by myself.

7. Do you get to use sign in day-to-day life?:
Not really. :(

8. What do you like the most about sign language?:
It's so expressive!

9. What's your favourite sign?:
Turtle. Because your thumbs make the little turtle legs, and it's so cute.

I'm a Buffy fan, an actor, I teach piano, and I crochet.

7. Do you get to use sign in day-to-day life?:Not right now but my little brother knows some so it would be cool to practice with him.
8. What do you like the most about sign language?:That it opens the world up to those that might otherwise have been shut out.

10. Outside of sign language, what other hobbies do you have? Any fandoms?: History- Modern European as it is what I study, Roman history, reading, writing, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Avengers, Star Trek, Spartacus, X-Men, and I love watching sports! f1, tennis, football~
11. Are you looking for other friends on DW/someone to practise sign with?: Friends are always welcome.
12. If so, is there anything they should know upfront?:I'm not great with people that don't interact with me a lot. My journal can get very personal so I can remove access for people that I'm unsure of or anxious about. I have anxiety problems so I'm very careful about who I circle and what not.

4. What sign language are you studying?: I am not, but i sign a mix of SEE & ASL i beleive its called prism?
5. How long have you been signing?: 25 years
6. Do you take classes, or teach yourself?: teachers taught me
7. Do you get to use sign in day-to-day life?: I wish i had more of them (i dont see my friends that often) but i do communicate with my husband with sign sometimes (i also can speak / lip read)
8. What do you like the most about sign language?: i love it can get creative! and meeting other people from another states to see what words they use for so and so... so interesting and so different!

10. Outside of sign language, what other hobbies do you have? Any fandoms?: Knit, crochet, read, hanging out with friends, go outdoors & etc
